Tribes Women of the“Flying Tiger”Area

These are women of the Pieh tribe who live in the area between Lungling and Mangshih,recent theater of operations where Maj.Gen.C.L.Chennault's Fourteenth Air Force fighters and bombers coordinated with Chinese ground forces in clearing Mangshih to open Burma Road as overland supply line to China.Here Married women wear black,turban-type hats,as shown above,to indicate married status.They favor bright red,orange colors for dresses.
