1945年4月20日美国飞行员获得中国空军胸章

中国空军第五路司令官晏玉琮上校（音）将中国空军飞行员胸章别到来自纽约市的约翰·裴巴杰克上尉，以及加州的威廉姆·雷泰尔中尉胸前，两人分别是蒋介石委员长专机的正副驾驶员。这架名为“美龄”号的专机，由中国战区美军最高司令官、中国战区最高司令长官蒋介石的参谋长魏德迈中将作为礼物赠送给蒋公。中华民国总统亲自下令，授予这两名美国飞行员中国空军荣誉飞行员的称号。

Colonel Yeng Yu-tsung,commander of the Chinese Fifth Route Air Force,pins Chinese pilot's wings on Capt.John S.Papajik(left)of New York City and First Lieutenant William E.Lytle of Huntington Park,Cal.,pilot and co-pilot of Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek's personal plane.The plane,named"Mei Ling"in honor of Madam Chiang Kai-shek,was the gift of Lieutenant General A.C.Wedemeyer,commander of U.S.Forces in the China Theater and Chief of staff to the Generalissimo.The American pilots were made honorary members of the Chinese Air Force at the personal direction of the President of the Republic of China.
